From Dan Kent
Stacey,
Just a short note to wish you well with your book and on your cancer journey.
We lost a daughter (Kathy) to metastases from breast cancer in 2002 -she was 33 and was originally diagonised in late 1999 and like you the great Chris Pike was her surgeon. She underwent chemo and radiotherapy - herceptin was not available then. Kathy had been an oncological nurse and was married and had three children. They still live in Brisbane with our son-in-law.
In December 2005 I underwent surgery and chemotherapy for rectal cancer - so I too am on my cancer journey.
I am now involved with quite a few organisations at the local state and federal level which are associated with cancer advocacy, trials and the cancer journey - including quality of life for survivors and carers. I think it is fantastic that patients write on their journeys - I read Raylene Boyle's book early in my journey. A positive attitude and great family and friend's support helps immensely on our 5 year journeys.
Best wishes with your book release and on your journey.
Kind Regards
Dan Kent
