Meet Chris Moyle.

are leaders born or made?

Chris’ leadership has in part come naturally, and in part developed with extensive experience and training over many years, across many fields, and across many adventures.

Under his leadership, it’s comforting to know that he’s equipped with 10 years of military service in the Australian Army specialising in disciplines such as survival (i.e., coastal, tropical, alpine environments), and quietly couples decades of hiking, climbing, scrambling, bouldering, mountaineering, rappelling, and ice climbing in some of the biggest mountains around the world – from the Himalayas to South America, to South East Asia, South Asia, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Whether solo or touring with small groups, Chris’ adventures have led him to some of the most memorable places in the world – always trekking, cycling and/or climbing with balanced ambitions, remembering that safety is paramount regardless of the desires of an individual or the collective group. Whilst it’s important to make the most unique and lasting memories with new and old friends, it is another to do it safely, and to make sure we return to the ones we love.

Chris believes that the spirit of adventure in all of us never gets old. It’s the feeling you get when you’re alone, but still connected; when you’re lost, but can still find your way; and when you’re fearful, but the challenge makes you feel free.

True adventure comes from within – and the smaller the groups, the more personal it becomes.

That is Chris and Climbing Mountains.

divertente, amichevole e molto ben qualificato or just fun, friendly and very well qualified.

Marco has adventured on numerous hikes with Climbing Mountains and it's always a privilege to adventure with him. Missing from his resume is his infectious energy, his kind spirit, and his adventuring sensibilities - or his 6th sense. Having a multilinguist onboard has its benefits too! No one better than Marco! Ciao a tutti!

Meet Mat Young

Our Adventure Guide, based in the jewel of the southern hemisphere - Tasmania!

veni, vidi, vici
I came, I saw, I won

Mat's journey to become a top tier outdoor professional began after finishing an 8-year stint in the Australian Army. Upon leaving he dived headfirst into tourism and a full-time adventure lifestyle. He brings with him an intense drive and passion for the mountains that is infectious. Based in beautiful Tassie, Mat is a climber, hiker, trail runner and split boarder. When he’s not guiding wilderness trails throughout Tasmania, you can find him climbing at one of Tasmania’s many iconic crags or trail running the Abels. As an outdoorsman Mat's experience and accomplishments are extensive. This gives him a keen understanding of risk management in the outdoors in all sorts of weather conditions.
